New Feeder Bus Routes Connect Dubai Marina to JBR

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched new feeder bus routes connecting Dubai Marina Metro Station to popular destinations in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), significantly enhancing last-mile connectivity in one of Dubai's most vibrant residential and tourist areas.
New Routes Overview
The initiative introduces three new feeder bus routes (F81, F82, and F83) that will operate at high frequency throughout the day, providing convenient connections between Dubai Marina Metro Station and key locations within JBR and the surrounding areas.
The new routes are designed to address the growing demand for efficient public transportation options in the Dubai Marina and JBR area, which attracts thousands of residents, tourists, and business visitors daily.
Route Details
The three new routes offer comprehensive coverage of the JBR area:
- Route F81 (JBR The Walk): Connects Dubai Marina Metro Station to JBR The Walk, with stops at Bahar Plaza, Rimal Plaza, Amwaj Plaza, and The Beach. This route operates every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours.
- Route F82 (JBR Residential): Serves the residential towers in JBR, with stops at Sadaf, Bahar, Rimal, Amwaj, and Murjan clusters. This route operates every 12 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours.
- Route F83 (Marina-JBR Express): Provides an express service between Dubai Marina Metro Station and JBR The Beach, with only two intermediate stops. This route operates every 15 minutes throughout the day and is designed for visitors heading directly to the beach and entertainment areas.
Operating Hours
The new feeder bus routes will operate from 5:30 AM to 12:30 AM from Saturday to Wednesday, and from 5:30 AM to 1:30 AM on Thursday and Friday, aligning with Dubai Metro's operating hours and the lifestyle patterns of the area's residents and visitors.
Enhanced Connectivity Benefits
The introduction of these new routes offers several benefits to the community:
- Reduced Walking Distances: Residents and visitors will now have bus stops within 300 meters of most locations in JBR, significantly reducing walking distances, especially during the hot summer months.
- Traffic Reduction: The enhanced public transport options are expected to reduce private vehicle usage in the area by approximately 15%, helping to alleviate traffic congestion on JBR and Marina roads.
- Tourism Support: The new routes will better serve tourists staying in JBR hotels, providing them with convenient access to the metro network and, by extension, to Dubai's major attractions.
- Environmental Impact: The initiative aligns with Dubai's sustainability goals by encouraging public transport usage, potentially reducing carbon emissions in the area by up to 10%.
Modern Fleet
The new routes will be served by a fleet of modern, medium-sized buses equipped with:
- Low-floor design for easy boarding and alighting
- Dedicated spaces for wheelchair users
- USB charging ports for passenger convenience
- Real-time information displays showing the next stops and estimated arrival times
- Advanced air conditioning systems optimized for Dubai's climate
Smart Features
Passengers can track the real-time location of buses on these routes through the RTA Dubai app, which also provides estimated arrival times and occupancy levels. The app allows users to plan their journeys efficiently, minimizing waiting times at bus stops.
Additionally, all buses on these routes are equipped with smart payment systems that accept Nol cards, credit cards, and mobile payments, offering passengers multiple convenient payment options.
Community Response
The announcement of the new routes has been well-received by JBR residents and businesses. Mohammed Al Hashimi, a long-time JBR resident, commented: "This is a much-needed service that will make commuting much easier. Previously, the walk from the metro station to my apartment in Bahar was quite long, especially during summer."
Local businesses also anticipate positive impacts. Sarah Johnson, manager of a beachfront restaurant in JBR, noted: "We expect to see more visitors from other parts of Dubai now that there's a direct bus connection from the metro. This should be good for all businesses in the area."
Future Expansion
According to RTA officials, the new routes are part of a broader strategy to enhance feeder bus services across Dubai. Based on the performance and feedback from these routes, similar services may be introduced in other areas with high residential and tourist density.
The RTA has also indicated that the frequency of these routes may be increased during major events and the tourist high season to accommodate larger passenger volumes.
For detailed route maps, schedules, and real-time updates, passengers can visit the RTA website or use the RTA Dubai mobile application.
